I was so excited to try Lola's.  Loving Playground and Little Sparrow in Santa Ana, Lola creates a trifecta.  The menu is short and sweet.  It is a Latin influenced tasting menu. The food is inspired by "Travels, tales, and mother nature herself." The crispy duck , made with buckwheat, sope topped with creme fraiche and the beef filet tataki with chicharron crumble, made our mouths water. The pozole was also yummy. 

What made the seafood crudo taco so interesting was the thinly sliced jicama used as the taco instead of a tortilla. The taco sent us over the edge and we ordered 2 more.

Ok, this blew my socks off.  Butterscotch pot de creme, with fresh whipped cream.  It was so rich, creamy and had little flakes of salt lightly dusted throughout the pudding.  I wanted MORE.  I actually asked our darling waitress, Ally, if it would be possible to buy a dozen.  Screw the traditional pumpkin, apple, pecan pies, I wanted this dessert for Turkey Day.  Well no could do.  Recipe was out of the question so I guess when I get the craving , I just have to go back.

Lola Gaspar is a funky, festive tavern- style with an outside patio and trippy decor. The wait staff is really friendly and the charm is all around. Worth the trip to visit and experience.  A must on the list to try.
