While sipping your Champagne splurge on a simple cheese platter. The real delicacy will be a nice 1 ounce jar of delicious caviar. Serve on blinis with creme fraiche. The more traditional way to serve caviar is on toast points with chopped white onion, chopped egg white and egg yolk topped with a dollop of creme fraiche. Any way you serve it, it will be delicious. Locally, it is sold at Bristol Farms, Gelson's and believe it or not Bevmo has a good supply.
If you don't want to spend $150.00 - $200.00 a bottle, there are many great Champagnes under $80.00 to sample. One of my favorites is Lanson Brut and that runs about $45.00 - $49.00 a bottle. For a $30.00 bottle, Schramsburg Blanc de Noirs is really tasty. Up to you on what you want to spend. Remember the OC Wino's favorite is Lanson and I know my champagne, just ask me.
Dessert is now about Chocolate cake. Republique won my vote in LA. The salted Caramel center filling was incredible. In Orange County, Susie Cakes hands down was the most delicious chocolate cake ever. Milk had delicious cupcakes and Blue velvet cake.
Yum, Finish your night with fresh strawberries. Happy Valentine's Day to all and to all a good night!!!
